Installation Questions

How do I install underCover?

Download the executable file for your platform (Windows or OSX) from the download page and execute it. There's nothing to install. On OSX, you first have to unpack it. OSX will automatically unpack it when you click on it.

Is Apple OK with this?

Honestly, I don't know, but I can't imagine what they could have against it. underCover only enhances iTunes and provides a feature that iTunes should have had a long time ago. If they really didn't like people messing with the communication between iTunes and the iTunes Store servers, they would encrypt the traffic.

But they can't possibly like the unlocking of iTMS artwork, can they?

Well, I guess they send it encrypt for a reason. iTunes itself saves the artwork unencrypted, but with an obfuscated name. underCover doesn't break the encryption, it only compares the file size of the encrypted artwork it received from the iTMS with the unencrypted artwork in the iTunes library and matches files with roughly the same size. I can't imagine that even the trigger-happy Apple attorneys would interpret that as a circumvention of their encryption scheme.
